Water clam is concentrated into "Shijimi Tablet" to experience the essential quality. Not only extract but also the meat of shijimi clam is broken down by special technique. Yawata is very particular about ingredients which is the real extract removed moisture and shell from raw shijimi clam. Therefore, it contains amino acid as a useful component such as essential amino acid and ornithine which is popular health ingredients.
The shijimi clam shining with golden color, which is rare in Japan, called "Golden water clam" is used as a ingredient.
| We use golden water clam unloaded in Hualien, Taiwan, where is blessed with a rich natural environment. Golden water clam is called Asian clam officially, it inhabits in Southeast Asia such as Taiwan. "Golden water clam" is larger than "Yamato shijimi clam" and shining with golden color. |

About 3 hours train ride from Taipei station in Taiwan, it arrives at Hualien located in East Coast in Taiwan.
It is one of the best sightseeing spots where is famous for Taroko Gorge, and there are so many Japanese tourists there. Many people have been attracted by wonderful nature environment. About 1 hour drive by car from Hualien station, we arrived the production area of water clam, where there are countless ponds. |

| Shijimi clam, which is common kind in Japan, inhabits feeding on plankton in brackish-water mixed with sea water and fresh water. However, the Taiwanese golden water clam inhabits in 100% of fresh water. It feeds on algae that increase by photosynthesis in the strong light of the sun in Taiwan. Therefore it has abundant source of nutrition.
In developing this product, we studied about "Yamato shijimi clam". However we chose "Golden water clam" in the end. Each one has a good quality, but we chose it because of natural environment that Golden water clam inhabits, and the quality of water. (See the graph below) |
